The first step for drilling waste management is to separate the solids cutting from the liquid drilling mud. Once solid and liquid drilling waste have been separated, companies can use a variety of technologies and practices to manage the wastes. For some applications, drilling wastes are solidified or stabilized prior to their ultimate management practice. The management technologies and practices can be grouped into three major categories: waste minimization, recycle/reuse, and disposal.

7 Jet mud mixer SLH150-50 on separate skid (hopper+mixing pump)

The function is to prepare and weight drilling mud

1 )Unit capacity: 240m3/h, unit mixing speed: 100kg/min

2) #1 and #2 jet mud mixer can work separately, also can work at the same time

3) The mixing pump also can be used as transfer pump, to pump mud from one tank to another, or to other tanks out of this plant

Oilfield Swab tank

Also called test tank, each plumbed for separate discharge to vacuum truck or water tank. Complete with minimum 32 ” Poor-Boy Degasser with proper vent, fluid leg and inspection hatch. Usually we will provide a complete sets of measurement tools, including Mud Balance, Plastic Marsh Funnel Viscometer and Plastic Measuring Cup and Stopwatch.

Oilfield trip tank

A small mud tank with a capacity of 10 to 15 barrels, usually with 1-barrel or h-barrel divisions, used to ascertain the amount of mud necessary to keep the wellbore full with the exact amount of mud that is displaced by drill pipe. When the bit comes out of the hole, a volume of mud equal to that which the drill pipe occupied while in the hole must be pumped into the hole to replace the pipe. when the bit goes back in the hole, the drill pipe displaces a certain amount of mud, and a trip tank can be used again to keep track of this volume.

GN decanter centrifuges are widely used in complete drilling fluids recycling system, work together with cutting dryer. Such drilling fluids circulation system is widely used in Venezuela and other South American countries.

 Venezuela’s proven oil reserves are among the top ten in the world. Today, Venezuela is the fifth largest oil exporting country in the world with the second-largest reserves of heavy crude oil (after Canada).

 There is big demand of oilfield drilling mud system/solids control system in Venezuela. Before they mainly purchased the drilling mud system from USA . But now more and more clients realize that they can purchase rig packages from China, although the delivery time and transportation will be longer and complicated, they can save a considerable drilling cost.

A complete drilling fluids circulation system including shale shaker, mud cleaner( or separate desander, desilter), screw conveyer , Cutting dryer, recycling mud tank, decanter centrifuge(with feeding pump), drilling mud reserve tank/storage tank, etc.

After processed by cutting dryer, the large drilling cuttings have been separated out, the drilling fluids flows to recycling tank or to decanter centrifuge through screw pump. Since decanter centrifuge has higher separation factor than cutting dryer, it can separate fine particles from the drilling fluids and recycling barite to keep the drilling fluids balance.

Last week GN solids control attend 11^th CIPPE held in Beijing on 22th, March. To some extent, it is a successful oil show, Many professional manufacturers of drilling rig, drilling tools, drilling fluids solids control system/mud circulation system, and accessories, etc in China attend the fair.

 What is the features of GN mud circulation system?

1 It consists of GN new designed BEM shaker, GNZJ703 mud cleaner, LW450x1000N decanter centrifuge, mixing hopper and mixing pump, the complete electric control panel and tank accessories( stairs, handrails, slide walkways, mud pipeline, clean gate, etc)

 2 Process of GN mud circulation system

  First, drilling mud is flowed into the buffer box of the shale shaker through mud divided equipments, then entered the 2 sets of BEM shale shaker, after treated drilling mud flowed into shaker compartment, which is sand trap designed.

  #1 centrifugal pump feeds the mud from shaker compartment to desander cone of mud cleaner, then the clean mud droped into desander compartment;

  #2 centrifugal pump feeds the mud from desander compartment to desilter cone, then the clean mud droped into desilter compartment.

   The submersible slurry pump feeds the mud from desilter compartment to the centrifuge, to separate solids particle size 2~5μm. Now the clean mud can be used directly for drilling through pipelines, or weighten by mixing hopper. After weighten drilling fluids, they can be recycled and re-used in the drilling operations.

GN solids control design and manufacture a complete solids control system/drilling mud system for oil & gas drilling, now we need a mud cooling system in our design, to make it more user-friendly. Usually we call the mud cooling system as mud cooler.

 

Application of mud cooling system

• Oil, Gas, Geothermal Drilling – cooling drilling fluids
• Oil and Gas Refineries – gas cooling/condensing
• Petro-Chemical – steam condensing
• Power Generation – fluid cooling
• Steel – waste water cooling

In Oil, Gas, Geothermal Drilling ,the Mud Cooling system is used to reduce the temperature of drilling fluid returned to the surface.

 

In HT / HP wells the temperature of the drilling fluid must be strictly controlled to keep it’s properties within the specified parameters for that particular well. If the temperature of the drilling fluid is allowed to increase then a variety of problems can occur such as high equivalent circulating density (ECD), formation breakdown, lost circulation, packing off, stuck pipe and evaporation of the oil and water phase.

GN 1000HP land rig solids control system is including the following equipments:

1 waste solids discharge: we will try our best to simple the solids discharge operation, and save land area of solids discharge, sometimes a screw conveyor is applied to keep the mud system in compact structure and convenience solids discharge.

GN solids control manufacture 2” mud gun and 3” mud gun, and we have several sets of mud guns in stock.

There are 2 type of mud guns, the common one is top tank type, sometimes we design it as bottom tank type. Top tank mud gun is controlled by staff on the tank, the difference between GN mud gun and NOV mud gun is the nozzle numbers, we make to 3 nozzle numbers, which can jet more place in the tank so the agitating effect can be better.

What is the difference between tank top and tank bottom mud gun?1 tank top mud gun

 Tank top mud gun is usually with function of agitating, together with mud agitator, they are important equipments for drilling mud tank and mud mixing tank. And how many sets of agitator you have for the mud mixing tank, usually how many mud guns you have. But it also have exception, for example, when the tank room is very small, you have no room for the agitator, and the tank is not so large, you can use a mud gun instead, it is much cheaper, needs smaller area to install and convenient to operate, also do not need to use electric power, but use pressure to work, and you do not need to buy a lot of spare parts such as gear box, bearings for the mud agitator. Anyway mud gun has a lot of advantages but it can not replace mud agitator totally, the agitating effect is not so strong as agitator. We need to use them together to benefit from both of them.

2 Tank bottom mud gun

Tank bottom mud gun also called inner tank mud gun, its function usually not agitating, but transferring and mixing line. It transfers the mud from mud mixing tank to another tank.

Where is the pressure come from ?

For high pressure mud gun, the pressure came from mud pump, for lower pressure mud gun, the pressure came from mixing pump, it can mix and transfer drilling mud to another tank.
