API RP 13C is the latest labeling procedure for shaker screens. Internationally, API RP 13C is ISO 13501.Now the API Screen Numbers are determined by the D100 separation (Microns).d100 separation and API screen number

Introduction of API RP 13C

The new procedure API RP 13C is a revision of the previous API RP 13E, which was based on optical measurements of the screen opening using a microscope and computer analysis. Under API RP 13E, screen designations were based on individual manufacturer test methods which produced inconsistent labeling. So it has many different criterion, and when we choose the shaker screen for the shakers, we are easy to get in trouble, even now with the API RP13C, we must convert the old one to the new label, then we can choose the right screen.

How They Test

The API RP 13C test contain two parts: cut point and conductance. It is a current criterion. Used all over the world.The tests describe a screen without predicting its performance.

The cut point test is based on a time-proven testing method used by ASTM to classify particles by size.

The D100 separation is used for assigning screen designations. D100 means that
100 percent of the particles larger than the test screen will be retained, and all finer particles will pass through.

Centrifugal Pump Application for the Separation Work

Centrifuagal pump is widely used, in all the industry and agriculture even in the life. In the oil well drilling, or just water well drilling, HDD, environment protection, they are core parts though there are a lot of equipments. They charge the transportation for the separation work.
What they really do is pump the mixture of solids and slurry or drilling fluids from one stage of separation to another stage. As shown in the picture. centrifugal pump in the mud system

Usually the drilling rig made in China are defined as ZJ Series. There are ZJ20 ZJ30 ZJ40 ZJ50 ZJ70, and because of the different capacity of the drilling rig required.

The Main Centrifugal Equipments in Solids Control System

Centrifugal separation is one main and effective separation way, while the mixtures can distinguish by gravity, which means with the same volume, the weight is different. In solids control system, there are two way to separate the drill cuttings from the drilling mud, screening and centrifugation.centrifugal pump
As we all know the screening machine is the shale shaker, and they separate the drilling cuttings by volume, the bigger one left and the smaller be stored to next phase.

There are kinds of centrifugal equipments in mud system: Centrifugal pumps, hydrocycolone separator (desander and desilter), and decanter centrifuge.
The centrifugal pump is used to pump the drilling mud, and make the hydrocyclones work. While the other ones is the separation equipments.

The Difference between Vacuum Degasser and Poor Boy Degasser

Vacuum degasser and poor boy degasser is both are degasser in oilfield, there are some differences some maybe confused.

How do the two degasser works and the difference

The vacuum degasser suck the drilling mud and separated mud and gas by vacuum pump.

Our vacuum degasser operates on a “thin strata” principle. The drill mud enters the tank and forces it to flow and distributed to a layer of internal baffle plates engineered to allow the liquid inside the vacuum degasser to flow as thin film and is exposed to the vacuum within the vessel. This layer of mud allows the gas to escape or break out of the mud . The vacuum pump releases the gas and discharge it to the disposal line. Mud exits the vessel under the action of the venturi and is returned to the mud system.

The GN MUD/GAS SEPARATOR (poor boy degasser) consists of a cylindrical pressure vessel in a fixed vertical position. Inside is a series of specially angled baffle plates, stepped from the top to the bottom. When contaminated mud is routed into the separator, it flows downward successively over each plate. During this process, the heads of entrained gases “break out.” The released gas is then carried by the vent lines to a remote location where it can be safely flared.
