The drilling mud cleaning system are required in oil well drilling, horizontal drilling, the mud cleaning system fuction is for preparing clean mud for drilling rig.

HDD Drilling mud system
HDD Drilling mud system

Generally,The mud cleaning system for removal of drill cuttings and recovery of drilling mud coming from an oil well, where the mud slurry may be made up essentially of barite particles having a specific gravity of 4.2 or more and a particle size mostly under 200 mesh, drill cuttings having a specific gravity of 2-3, and varying particle sizes ranging from 200 mesh to 1/2 inch or more, and water;

  • In oil well drilling, drilling mud must be supplied to the hole as the well depth progresses. One of the basic functions of drilling mud is to carry the drill cuttings up to the surface so they can be disposed of. A drilling mud in common use today is typically composed of barite and water. There may be other constituents, (such as oil) but they would exist only in small amounts or percentages. Since large quantities of drilling mud are needed in drilling an oil well, it is desirable to recover the barite, and recycle it. Various drilling mud cleaning systems are in use today for separating the drill cuttings from the slurry so that the fluid and/or barite can be recycled. Most systems use a combination of one or more screens or sieves in a series flow relationship, with a final separating step using a hydrocyclone or centrifuge. Hydrocyclones desander and decanting centrifuges are expensive pieces of equipment with high energy and maintenance costs.
  • In HDD drilling mud cleaning system, sometimes there is a single tank, closed-loop system or a multi-tank mud system is required, GN Solids Control can develop the proper system to meet specific requirements. from small HDD (hirontal directional drilling mud system) to deep oil well drilling mud system.

fluids,drilling mud.

1. Connect the grout outlet of sand pump and admission inlet with 6″ rubber pipe. The gas hole installed on the top of overflow pipe is used for preventing the siphon effects. A little drilling fluid will be flowed from air-bleed hole when the desilter is running. Air-bleed hole can not be blocked. If not, desilter will be failed to run.
2. Manifold of desilter: Two ends of incoming-stream manifold and overflow manifold should be connected with flange, in which the liquid can flow. The joint of overflow pipe can be rotated in any angle along the axle, through which the 8″ rubber pipe can be fixed in other drilling liquid tank easily. Incoming-stream pipe and overflow pipe of hydrocyclone should be assembled with 90° angle.
3. Firstly, open the fixed equipment of desilter screen box.
4. The operation of desilter is adjusted through the outlet pressure of sand pump.
5.Desilter Screen Assembly
The quality of installation will influence its life and running. Don’t damage the screen artificially and loosen the screen when assembling. If not, the sound “FLAPPING” will be emerged between screen and support rubber strip when shale shaker is running, in which the screen is damaged speedily. However, don’t stretch it tightly. If not, the pre-force of screen is exceed, in which the damaged degree of screen also be speeded or the screen is stretched directly.
If the support rubber strip of screen box is rugged or damaged, press and change it.
6.Slip locking equipment
This equipment locks the roll-axial to tighten the screens. Lock in roll-axial through stretching the slip by bolts. Grease should be feed into the slip locking structure for every replacing of screen to prevent the equipment sticking.
7.The maintenance of desilter screens
Iron parts and other hard particles are forbidden to destroy or tear the screen.
The meshes of screen should be matched according to performance of well liquid. The finer screen(shale shaker screen) should be prior only if the well liquid is flown from the screen, in which the effects will be better.

This Desilter should be maintained forcibly.
Adjust, clean, screw, and change part expired and damaged units if the operation exceeds 500 hours totally.
Check or change tight roll-axial of screen box, and change the cut-cone and spiral case, as well as check the insulation of motors if the operation exceeds 4000 hours totally.

Drilling fluids management system
Drilling fluids management system

GN Solids Control is 1 of about 10 China manufacturers who can design and manufacture all the equipments for a complete drilling fluids management system

All the drilling fluids management equipments are mounted over the drilling mud tank.

There are many ways to configure your mud tanks below your drilling fluids management equipment. The most common practice requires three sections. Under your shale shaker you have the first section known as the sand trap where the mud to be pumped from this section goes through your Desander. This cleaned mud is then dumped into the second section known as a silt tank. The mud is picked up then pumped through your Desilters. The Desilters dumps the cleaned mud into the third section, know as the clean mud or mixing tank. This will be picked up by  the pump to be pumped back into your bore hole.

To provivide Combination Desanders/Desilters are common when the volume being pumped is under 500 GPM. The tank separation in this drilling fluids managemet application can be achieved with two sections in the mud tank. A clean section where mud to be mixed and pumped down hole is located. The second section is under the shale shaker where the contaminated mud is picked up and processed by the Desander/Desilter combination.

The drilling fluids management Equipments

The first line of defense for a properly designed drilling fluids management system has been and will continue to be, the shale shaker. Without proper screening of the drilling fluid during this initial removal step, reduced efficiency and effectiveness of all downstream drilling fluids management in the system is assured. The downstream hydrocyclones will simply be overloaded beyond their designed capacity.

Hydrocyclones are simple mechanical devices, with out moving parts, designed to speed up the settling process. Feed pressure is transformed into centrifugal force inside the cyclone or cone to accelerate particle settling in accordance with Stoke’s Law #1. In essence, a cyclone is a miniature settling pit which alloys very rapid settling of solids under controlled conditions.Hydrocyclones have become important in drilling fluids management system because of their ability to efficiently remove particles smaller than the finest mesh screens.

Decanter centrifuge are used to process unweighted and weighted, water-based and oil-based drilling fluids (muds). Mechanical energy is utilized to increase the gravitational force exerted on solids that are present in the mud system.oilfield Decanting Centrifuge are able to apply over 3,000 G-forces on the liquid/solids mixture, which separates the heavier solids from the lighter solids.

Other drilling fluids management equipments includes:centrifugal pump, drilling fluids degasser, etc.

Oilfield Desilter Application in mining

GN oilfield drilling mud Desilter is discussed for application in mining slurry separtion.

Thank you for your e-mail of 12th October about your solids control equipments application.

Oilfield desilter
Oilfield desilter

We are of opinion that, during your interpretation of the technical specifications and the screen analysis of our ore, a misunderstanding must have occurred.

The result of the screen analysis of our ore we sent to you was only to give you a general information about the grain size of the ore.

These grain sizes do not reflect the particle sizes which we will feed into our process line.

The ore we are going to feed into the concentrator will preliminarily be screened through a 0,500 mm (35 mesh U.S) screen and be reduced down to -0,500 mm.

Following this, -0,500 mm material will be deslimed by separating ≥15µ using Hydrocyclone desilter and in this way we will end up with a material of -500 mm + 0,015 mm.

Studying the technical parameters of your ZQJ DESILTER, we understood that we can deslimed our (-0,500mm) material, by separating it at ≥ 15µ, using your ZQJ DESILTER.

During this operation we think that the solid rate of the pulp should be approximately 15%.

We are waiting for your answer, stating, if it would be possible to apply the process given above successfully using your DESILTER.

We can discuss and negotiate the details about your other equipment like shale shakers, decanting centrifuges, machinery and pump after having finished the negotiations about the applicability of DESILTER.

Definition of centrifugal pump
Machine for moving fluid by spinning it using a rotating impeller in a casing with a central inlet and a tangential
outlet

Note of Centrifugal pump:

NOTE The path of the fluid is an increasing spiral from the inlet at the centre to the outlet, tangent to the impeller annulus.
In the annular space between the impeller vane tips and the casing wall, the fluid velocity is roughly the same as that of
the impeller vane tips. Useful work is produced by the pump when some of the spinning fluid flows out of the casing
tangential outlet into the pipe system. Power from the motor is used to accelerate the fluid entering the inlet up to the
speed of the fluid in the annulus. Some of the motor power is expended as friction of the fluid in the casing and impeller.

These centifugal pumps are developed and fabricated  as supporting pumps based on requirement of transferring oil & gas drilling fluid. Centrifugal pump adopt the axial sucking structure and all the hydraulic components are wear proof cast iron, which is suitable for delivering the corrosive liquids with suspended particles in well drilling. Its quality is accepted by Weatherford and assembling dimension is same to Mission centrifugal pump.

SB centrifugal pumps are characteristic of abrasion resistance, smooth and stable running, reliable sealing, long service life and convenient maintenance.  Those pumps have been used for land and offshore drilling platforms in more than 20 countries over the world.

Clockwise pumps and anti-clockwise pumps are available.

Mechanical seal and compound seal are available. The compound seal adopts auxiliary impeller, special oil seal and packing seal. Main seal of mechanical  seal is mechanical seal with a long service life, auxiliary seal of machine seal is packing seal to prevent occurrence of accidents.
Shaft seals are lubricated with grease and bearings are lubricated with machine oil and grease  Since bearing covers at two ends of bearings are equipped with grease injectors.

Both inlet flanges and outlet flanges for centrifugal pump are with two series standard dimensions.

Drilling Mud Treating System Drilling fluids treatment

Drilling mud treating system is for processing drilling fluids and, drilling mud treatment  is for disposal Contaminated drilling fluids and mud.

GN Solids Control is one of about ten china manufacturers who can design and manufacture all the equipments for a complete drilling mud treating system

Products:Drilling mud recycling equipments system

  • Drilling Mud Treating System

To overcome many of the limitations of current solids-removal techniques, Drilling fluids mud-treating system was developed for weighted muds. The drilling mud or fluids treating system, called the Mud Cleaner, removes most of the drilled solids while retaining most of the barite and liquid phase of the mud. Unlike most barite-reclaiming or solids-removal techniques normally employed only after the drilled solids have reached an undesirable level, the Mud Cleaner is most effective when used as soon as barite is added to the mud system, and continuously thereafter. Continuous operation removes solids before they disintegrate to silt or clay size, thus preventing drill solids from accumulating in the mud treatment system. Briefly, the drillling fluids mud-cleaning system involves processing the mud through three separate stages:
(1) mud processing the mud through three separate stages: (1) mud at well-circulation rate flows through a first screen (shale shaker), which removes large-size solids; (2) the mud passes through a centrifuging stage (desilters), which passes through a centrifuging stage (desilter), which separates the mud into a low-density effluent and a high-density underflow – the effluent, comprising most of the liquid phase, returns to the mud treatment system; and (3) the underflow, containing barite and drilled solids, flows through a second, smaller  screen that is sized to pass the barite but to reject most of the drilled solids. The first screen can be provided by a conventional shale shaker that usually has a screen size between about 10 and 80 mesh. For most wells, shaker screens finer than 80 mesh are not capable of handling mud at normal well circulation rates. This means that mud passing the shale shaker contains large amounts of drilled solids. These solids upset mud properties and are the most difficult to remove. By pumping the mud tough desilters and screening the underflow, a large part of these fines can be removed without appreciable loss of barite.

  • Treatment of Drilling Fluids and Drilling Mud

Contaminated drilling fluids and mud are a considerable potential hazard to the sensitive marine ecosystem. The appropriate process treats the contaminated fluids and muds sufficiently so that by the end of the process, purified and thus unpolluted water can be discharged into the environment. This task is performed by the high-speed decanters and clarifiers from GEA Westfalia Separator.

Drilling fluids are understood to be viscous emulsions which are circulated through the drilling pipe during drilling for crude oil in order to pump the milled product upwards at the same time as the oil. These emulsions rapidly become contaminated with mud, salt water and oil residues. This means that the drilling fluids have to be continuously cleaned to ensure a smooth drilling process. The contaminated fluids are also a hazard to the sea, however, so continuous treatment is all the more important.

Once the drilling fluids have passed through a coarse screen and had a flocculant and a flush liquid added, the coarser solids are separated off by a decanter of the appropriate output. The liquid phase is initially passed to a slop oil tank. A clarifier from GEA Westfalia Separator then separates the fine residual solids so that the liquid phase can be discharged into the environment in the form of pure water after passing through a protective filter. This complies with the “zero emission”

Oil well Drilling mud (fluids) Conditioner

Oil well drilling mud conditioner are manufactured in our China factory. We provide you with competitive price, best solutions for drilling mud condition.

The present invention relates to additives or conditioners for oil well drilling fluids, and more particularly to a boron-chrome lignosulfonate drilling fluid additive or mud conditioner.

Drilling mud conditioner
Drilling mud conditioner

GN Solids Control design and manufacture Drilling Mud Conditioner utilizes a combination of hydro cyclones and a linear motion shale shaker to separate solids from liquid. The combination of hydrocyclone cones utilized is dependent upon the specific application of duty. Cone combinations typically consist of a few desander cones (10-inch or 12-inch) and several desilter cones (4-inch).

The most commonly used drilling fluids are aqueous dispersions of clay. The drilling fluid or “mud” is pumped down a hollow drill string, through the bit at the bottom, and up the annulus formed by the hole or casing and the drill string to thesurface. After reaching the surface, various operations are performed on the drilling fluid to remove the cuttings and formation material thereform. The drilling fluid is then treated with additives to obtain a desired set of rheological properties, and is then pumped back into the well in a continuous circulating process.

A satisfactory drilling fluid must have various desired functions, such as gelling during temporary work stoppage and other functions well known in the art, which contribute to the success of the well drilling operation. In order to accomplishthese various functions, it has been found necessary to incorporate certain additives in the drilling fluid. Modified lignosulfonates derived from spent sulfite liquor obtained from the pulping of woods have proven to be effective additives forobtaining the desired properties in drilling fluids.

These cones are mounted above the screen deck of the linear motion  shale shaker. The mud is fed first through the hydrocyclones, where it subsequently cascades down over the shale shaker. The remaining solids, including barite, are returned to the active drilling mud system.

The screens used on the shale shaker determine the cut point for the mud conditioner unit. When weighted mud  are used, shaker screens are selected in a manner that ensures that the majority of the weight material is returned to the mud system. Typically, API 170 screens (>82.5 to 98.0 microns) are utilized to reduce the amount of weight material discarded by the screens.

Drilling mud conditioner are widely used in petroleum oil and gas exploration industry, no-dig engineering, geotechnical engineering, mine, metallurgy, coal, hydropower and many other industries.GN drilling mud conditioning equipment can be used in both onshore and offshore oilfield project.HDD Horinzontal directional drilling mud system
