The main advantage of a Tricanter centrifuge is its ability to separate a mixture into its components without the need for multiple machines.
How It Works:
- Feed Mixture: The mixture containing solids and two liquids of different densities is fed into the Tricanter.
- Centrifugal Force: The high-speed rotation generates centrifugal forces, separating the phases based on their densities.
- Heavy Phase: The heavier liquid (usually water) is pushed outward against the bowl wall.
- Light Phase: The lighter liquid (usually oil) forms an inner layer.
- Solid Phase: Solids accumulate near the bowl wall.
- Discharge: Each phase is discharged separately:
- The solids are conveyed out by a scroll conveyor.
- The light and heavy liquid phases are discharged through separate outlets.
