However, on deeper wells and those with troublesome shale a build up of solids less than 70 microns will result in deteriorating mud properties, which again will necessitate dumping volume to make room for dilution.
With the inclusion of a decanting centrifuge, the closed loop system will allow the removal of solids from 2 microns up to 70 microns. Mud density can generally be controlled for long periods in an unweighted (no barite) system.
