GN solids control developed a new product- mini shale shaker, model GNZS752. It can meet the requirement for the clients who do not need so large treating capacity, but want to find an economic way to separate big solids from the drilling fluids.

GNZS752 shale shaker with unit treating capacity 264gpm, 2 screen panels with total screen area 1.35m2, G-force 6.3G adjustable, total power of this shaker is only 1.0KW, and total weight 800 kgs. Based on these parameters, we called it mini shale shaker.
This linear motion shale shaker GNZS752 can be widely used in HDD, water well drilling , shadow drilling and other drillings which need small treating capacity. After the new mini shaker is developed, there are many clients showed their interests. Before they have to use bigger shaker 2-panel GNZS852 or even 3-panel GNZS703. These shakers can treat the drilling mud better because of their large treating capacity, but it is a waste of money.

Vibrating screen normally called shale shaker in oil and gas drilling industry. GN solids control produce vibrating screen machine and replacement screens for it.

GN solids control choose Italy Oli brand vibrating motor for all our shale shakers. Vibration motor is important components for shale shaker, I will introduce briefly about vibrating motor installation & maintenance.
1 How to install vibrating motor ?

(1). Before installing vibrator, turn off and lock out/tag out all energy sources to mounting structure according to ANSI standards。
(2). If using a cutting torch or welding, test atmosphere for gas level or dust content.
(3). Make sure mounting surface is strong and flat, 0.25 mm acros vibrator feet. (This will minimize internal stress to vibrator casting when tightening mount bolts.
(4) Make sure mounting surface and vibrator are clean and free of debris, paint, and oxidation.
(5) Before installing vibrator onto mount, apply thread sealing compound to all bolts.
(6) After the vibrator has been operated for 10 to 20 minutes, check bolt torque. Tighten if necessary
2 How to maintain vibrating motor?
(1)Clean dust on shell regularly
(2)Before operating, must check the bolts to confirm whether there is loose or not. Otherwise, we must screw bolts tight before running shaker
(3) Inspect the cable, whether there is wear, hold down, crushing, etc.
(4) the vibration motor should be under good lubrication during operation:
Motors before fixed on shaker, the bearing is filled with SKF specific lubricate grease, the temperature range is -40 ~ 200℃
During running, every 2000 working hours user should makeup LGHP2 lubricate grease once. Every bearing can not be filled over 25.8g.

GNZS703 shale shaker is widely used for oil and gas drilling and directional drilling in the world.
1 shaker deck adjustment
LMSS
A spring-loaded plunger and reversible pawl provide a ratcheting action during movement of the operating handle. A full 180 degrees of movement is possible in both directions. Depending on pawl setting, moving the handle in one direction turns the jack screw to raise or lower the screen frame, while in the other direction the jack screw remains stationary during handle movement. The spring-loaded pawl permits the operator to switch the direction to either raise or lower the screen frame, as required.The angle of the discharge end of the screen frame is infinitely adjustable within the equipment’s available range.
(1)Inspect discharge duct connection on side of hopper for leaks. Tighten connection and/or add silicone sealant to prevent leakage.
(2)Inspect cover on unused hopper discharge connection for leaks. Tighten connection and/or add silicone sealant to prevent leakage.
(3)Using a water hose, wash off accumulated process material from screen frame, interior of hopper and AWD angle adjustment components.
(4)Excess process material in these areas may impede angle adjustment of screen frame and can reduce screen frame vibration if the frame bottoms out on the buildup.
(5)Check for and remove any accumulation of process material or other obstruction in feeder interior. Feeder blockage may cause excessive splashing and uneven distribution of slurry onto the screen bed.

3 Quick lock( wedge technology operation), which enables screen panel replacement in less than one minute. B Steel frame screen is constructed with two or three stainless steel layers bonded tightly to the steel frame. The frame is made of high-strength square steel tube or flat steel welded to multi- ribbed construction. These layers are coupled with the frame through metal backing plate or bonded straightly as well.

API standard design procedure of shale shaker
1 Shale shakers skids shall be level.
2 Shakers shall be rigged with adequate space, walkways and handrails to permit easy and safe servicing.
3 if the shaker is equipped with a rear tank, the flow line shall enter the rear tank as near the bottom as possible.
4 A means of diverting fluid from the flow line is recommended to permit the disposal of cement, spotting fluids, contaminated fluids, etc, before these fluids reach the shale shaker. The procedure shall not be used to dump the rear tank into the sand trap before trips.

1 The screens shall be inspected every time circulation is interrupted.
2 Use the shaker screens with the smallest openings that do not cause excessive drilling fluid loss.
3 Under normal operating conditions and when using a single-deck shaker with multiple screens, all screens shall have the same API designation.
4 Torn or damaged screens shall be replaced or repaired promptly.
e.g.GNZS63-3 shale shaker use wedge technology, it is easy to change and install Brandt Cobra shaker screen.
GNZS83-3 shale shaker use tension bolts to install screens.
5 When using shaker screens that need tensioning, tension shall be checked 15 min to 30 min after installation and tourly thereafter.

After operating the solids control system with the working of the drilling, to save cost, lengthen the life of shaker screen is very important, the essential thing is an active screen maintance program.
Screen panel flexing caused by dirty, missing or worn deck rubbers. Clean dirty deck rubbers or replace missing or worn deck rubbers. Always change all deck rubbers in the affected section of the shaker.
OLD WAY TO CLEAN SHAKER SCREEN
Remove any solids that become adhered to the screen cloth. Use a water hose or pressure washer to clean screens. NEVER clean screens with a wire brush. If screens become blinded with near size particles it is best to remove and wash with a pressure washer from the back side. Always clean screens if the shaker will be idle for a long period of time. Mud and cuttings that are allowed to dry on screens will eventually lead to premature failure. Continue reading »
