High G shaker with beneath tank for no pit drilling

GN high G shaker for water based mud drilling cuttings treatment, have two models for choose. One model is only High G shaker without beneath tank.  In this case, the operator should design one cement pit or separate mud tank to hold the liquid part after High G shaker.  The other model is High G shaker with beneath tank for fast use.

After High G shaker, high speed and variable speed centrifuge will be used for fine solids separation. GN Solids Control design decanter centrifuge with height adjustable skid for convenient use.

Recently, we have one drilling waste management service customer who buys 1 sets high G shaker with beneath tank and 1 set variable speed centrifuge with high skid. The detailed technical specifications as below:

1) High G shaker with beneath tank: The shaker is GNZS594HGE-LD shaker with 4 panel shaker screen (composite material frame screen and steel frame screen both available). The drying time should be longer than 2 panel or 3 panel shaker, and the performance should be much better. The shaker with hopper type feeding, total height is much lower than weir type feeding or box type feeding, match better with drilling cuttings treatment job.

Mini Mud Tanks for Different Function in Oil & Gas Drilling

GN Solids Control is not only professional solids control equipment supplier, but also supply different mud tanks for different functions. The size of mud tanks range from big mud tanks for oil drilling solids control system and mud plant to mini mud tanks, eg trip tank, sump tank, pill tank etc.

1) Pill tank and trip tank for solids control mud system

Pill tank is used for conditioning the drilling mud by add barite, bentonite or other heavy weight additive.  The size is about 1000x1000x1500mm. The position is placed after decanter centrifuge, fixed on the mixing mud tank. After adding heavy weight additive, the drilling mud can be mixing fully by force from Jet mud mixer with a centrifugal pump.

Trip tank is used for feeding the well when change the drilling tubes. It is generally positioned besides the shaker tank.

Recently, GN Solids Control just offer one sets of 1500HP rig mud system to RG Petroleum.  Pill tank and trip tank is included.

Drill Slurry Storage

Why we should have drill slurry storaged? Mainly it is because of the reasons below:

(1)   Requirement for the carriage and storage of mud on mobile drilling units has increased over the years, it is not convenient to process the drilling mud at the platform, you have to collect the used drill slurry and carry it to drilling fluids plant for process, then recycle the clean drill slurry and disposal the useless cuttings, so that it will not influence the environment.

(2)   Clean drill slurry should be storaged for use, for drilling , for mixing , for lubricate the drill bit.

(3)   Useless drill cuttings should be collected and storage, then carried to drilling waste management system for process.

GN solids control manufacture drill slurry storage tank for various application, with necessary mud agitators, mud gun, centrifugal pump and mixing hopper. We can produce mud storage tank together with solids control system or separately. Compared with shaker tank and intermediate tank, the pipeline of storage tank is much simple, if required by the clients, we will divide it into several compartment by clapboard. Sometimes mud ditch is installed on each compartment. Handrails, stairs, cleaning gate, valves are included, but walkways are not included. There is flexible hose connected 2 tanks.

Drilling Waste Disposal in Colombia

The landfills are low-cost and low-technology, so until now, it is the most popular method for drilling waste disposalin developing companies, who do not have much concern about environment.

1 Landfill

After drilling waste are maximum recovered and the certain level for oil, salt, metals or industrial chemicals can reach the disposal standard set up by environment Department, it can be landfill disposal. Even with low-concentration levels, pits must be structurally sound and isolated from groundwater sources, so that it can not be thread of groundwater supplies.

Waste with slightly higher concentrations can be blended with clean soil to meet acceptable levels. Pits can be located within plant rooting zones, but cannot intersect with ground water tables. If waste exhibits toxic concentrations, disposal can only occur in specially engineered and legally permitted landfills (on-site or off-site)

2 Drilling waste management

Only when the drilling waste is maximum recycled and treatment and reach the certain level, it can be landfill. GN solids control worked together with drilling waste management service companies, we provide equipments to support the service company to do the drilling waste disposal service.GN Vertical cutting dryer can make the drill cutting dryer and oil content in the cuttings is lower than 5%, then the water can be chemical treatment and the cuttings can be landfill or others.

Although there are a lot of methods for drilling waste disposal, the core solution is to reduce the drilling waste and maximum recycling them. A proper solids control system can minimize the drill cuttings and recycle more useful drilling fluids, a good drilling waste management system can recycle more cleaning drilling fluids from the cuttings, both of them can less the drilling waste disposal. GN provide both solids control & waste management solution, you need further process for the drilling waste disposal.

Together with Vacuum Collection System, Screw conveyor is also applied for collection of drilling cuttings? What is their difference in function?

Screw conveyor is the main equipment to collect drill cuttings from solids control equipments, in actual application, vacuum unit is used to transfer the cuttings from one screw conveyor to another, then the 2ndscrew conveyor transfer the cuttings to cutting dryer. Otherwise the position ofshould be higher than the inlet of cutting dryer, or the position of cutting dryer should be very low, it is not convenient to locate them in site.

Offshore drilling waste management

When water-based muds (WBMs) were used, only limited environmental harm was likely to occur, but when operators employed oil-based muds (OBMs) on deeper sections of wells, the resulting cuttings piles created impaired zones beneath and adjacent to the platforms. So it is necessary to process drilling waste by GN drilling waste management system.

Many offshore rigs do not process the drilling waste or even drilling mud at site, because there are professional facilities who can recycle the drilling mud and process the drilling waste. Then the rig can re-use the recycled drilling mud. Unlike onshore drilling rigs, there are complete solids control systems in onshore drilling site.

The drilling waste produced by onshore drilling are mainly drilling cuttings and less water, which can be transferred by screw conveyor to hi-G shaker or vertical cutting dryer for further process.

The drilling waste produced by offshore drilling usually is not produced by solids control equipments, they are collected by containers then transport to the drilling waste management facilities for process. Firstly they are pumped to shale shaker( drying shaker), then desander, desilter cone, the clean fluids can be processed by decanter centrifuge directly. The cuttings are transferred to vertical cutting dryer, then to decanter centrifuge, the clean fluids are collected and re-used in offshore drilling rig.

Hi-G dryer for Waste Management

GN new products hi-G dryer GNZS85-3 is designed to replace the old model hi-G dryer GNZS63-4. GN Hi-G dryer shaker is with long shaker deck big capacity which is used for waste management to treat the drilling cuttings from the primary solids control equipments, like shale shaker, desander, desilter to dry the solids for transportation, and make the fluids easier for future treatment. What is the features of GNZS853 compared with GNZS63-4?

1 Even it is 3 –panel hi-G dryer, its screen area is larger than 4-panel hi-G dryer. The larger the screen area is, the dryer the cutting is. Total deck screen length is 2550mm, the total deck screen length of GNZS63-4 is 2520mm. Total screen area of GNZS85-3 is 3.2m2, but the total screen area of GNZS63-4 is only 3.15m2. And GNZS85-3’s screen area and total deck length is larger than Derrick 4-panle shale shaker/mud cleaner.

So 4-panel shaker is not must be better than 3-panel shaker.

2 3-panel shaker screen can enlarge the effective screen area, the waste screen area is less compared with 4 screen panel. It can improve the performance of hi-G dryer.
