Drill cuttings separation

Drill cuttings are separated by shale shaker, decander, desiler, decanter centrifuge, and collected by screw conveyor or vacuum unit , for further separation of vertical cutting dryer & decanter centrifuge.

In an ideal situation, all drill solids are removed from a drilling fluid by solids control equipment on a drilling operation. The two primary sources of solids are chemical additives and formation drill cuttings. Drill cuttings are contaminants that degrade the performance of the drilling fluid. If the drill cuttings are not separated, they will be ground into smaller and smaller particles that become more difficult to remove from the drilling fluid.

Most formation solids can be removed by mechanical means at the surface. Small particles are more difficult to remove and have a greater effect on drilling fluid properties than large particles. The particle size of drilled solids incorporated into drilling fluid can range from 1 to 250 microns (1 micron equals 1/25, 400 of an inch of 1/1000 of a millimetre).

Degasser

Horizontal vacuum degasseris the most common degasser applied at present. A degasser is used in drilling to remove gases from drilling fluid which could otherwise form bubbles. It can remove virtually all entrained gases, including hydrogen sulfide and corrosive oxygen, from drilling fluid and reduce the threat of dangerous and costly blowouts while restoring mud to its original density for reuse in the active mud system.

GN standard ZCQ270 & ZCQ360 can process up to 1200gpm & 1500gpm, for requirement of processing rate less than 1000gpm, ZCQ270 will be your best choice.

Features:

1 skid mounted, compact foot print design

2 Self-Contained, do not need a centrifugal pump for feeding

3 Simple operation

For small amount of entrained gas in a drilling fluid, the degasser can play a major role of removing small bubbles that a liquid film has enveloped and entrapped. In order for it to be released and break out the air and gas such as methane, H2S and CO2 from the mud to the surface, the drilling fluid must pass degassing technique and it can be accomplished by the equipment called degasser which is also a major part of a mud systems.

Drilling Fluid System

Mud rotary drilling is popular in wellbore drilling, offshore works, well drilling, Horizontal directly drilling, mining, geotechnical. Drilling fluid system is one very important part of the drilling work. The two main parts of the drilling fluid system is the actual drilling fluid and the solids control equipments, to separate the cuttings from the drilling mud at the surface, and circulating water based drilling fluid.

hdd drilling fluid system
As we all know the quality and charactor of the drilling fluid effects the drilling works. The viscosity, density, fluid loss control, sand content, gel strength, and so on. The drilling fluid system is used to control them.
If not use the drilling fluid system correctly, effiently, there must be some trouble. High fluid density causes pressure in the formation of the borehole. This pressure drives the drilling fluid through the filter cake into the formation, leads to excessive drilling fluid loss to the formation, and extends well development time required to remove the mud from the formation. As the fluid density increases, the pressure required to move the fluid up the borehole also increases, leading to high mud pump pressure requirements. Continue reading
