Drilling mud vacuum tank degasser is one type of degasser in oil gas drilling fluids system.Another type of degasser is called Atmospheric Degasser.

Both of the vacuum degasser are devices that removes air or gases (methane, H2S, CO2 and others) from drilling fluids. There are two generic types that work by both expanding the size of the gas bubbles entrained in the mud (by pulling a vacuum on the mud) and by increasing the surface area available to the mud so that bubbles escape (through the use of various cascading baffle plates). If the gas content in the mud is high, a mud gas separator or “poor boy degasser” is used, because it has a higher capacity than standard degassers and routes the evolved gases away from the rig to a flaring area complete with an ignition source.

Vacuum Tank Degasser

Vacuum Type is the most common form of degasser. It can be horizontal, vertical or round vessel. A vacuum action is created to pull in the gas cut mud. When the liquid enters the tank it will flow and be distributed to a layer of internal baffle plates designed for the mud to flow in thin laminar film and is exposed to a vacuum that forces the gas to escape and break out of the mud.The vacuum pump moves the escaping gas from the vessel discharging it to the rig’s flare or environmental control system.

The M-I SWACO D-SANDER* Models 2-12 and 3-12 are designed for high-volume continuous removal of sand and abrasive cuttings from drilling fluids — 95% of all particles to 74 microns and more than 50% of particles to 40 microns. The D-SANDER features your choice of two or three 12-in.- (304.8-mm-) diameter replaceable, wear-resistant, polyurethane hydrocyclones and quick-release stainless steel clamps for simplified changeout. They are a fundamentally important piece of a rig’s complete solids control package. They also help limit repair and replacement of pump parts damaged by abrasives-laden drilling fluids.

The FLC 500 Series upgrade kit retrofits any Derrick Flo-Line Cleaner, FLC Plus, and FLC 2000 shakers to the FLC 503 configuration. The kit consists of a complete replacement screen frame including vibrator motors and float mounts. The screen frame is designed to maintain structural integrity at the higher Gs of the Super G motors. Derrick’s patented single-side tensioning system, which permits screen panel replacement in less than one minute per panel, is included on the new screen frame.

Two Derrick Super G vibrator motors produce the high G, linear motion that powers the screen frame. These motors feature permanently lubricated, sealed bearings and are designed for maintenance-free operation. The motors transmit vibratory motion directly to the screen surface for optimum solids conveyance and maximum capacity.

The FLC 500 upgrade kit permits use of Derrick’s full line of patented three-dimensional Pyramid and Pyramid Plus screens. Field test have shown that the combination of Super G motors and Pyramid screens have increased shaker capacities by more than 150 percent.
