A full hydraulic drive decanter centrifuge is a type of centrifuge used in various industries, including oil and gas, wastewater treatment, and chemical processing. It is a highly efficient machine that separates solids from liquids by utilizing centrifugal force.

The “full hydraulic drive” refers to the method of powering and controlling the centrifuge. In this design, hydraulic systems are used to drive the rotating bowl and adjust its speed and differential speed. The decanter centrifuge consists of a rotating bowl and a screw conveyor inside it. The role of the oil-based drill cuttings dryer and centrifuge system is to reduce the volume of drilling waste, recover useful drilling fluid, reduce transportation costs and post-processing costs. Its main configuration is as follows:

1. GN Solids Control vertical cuttings dryer GNCD930G

The drill cuttings dryer uses the centrifugal force generated by mechanical rotation to separate solid-liquid mixtures. It can recover the liquid phase in the drill cuttings. The drill cuttings enter through the feed port and enter the space between the screen basket and the screw through the distributor plate. The drill cuttings dryer rotates at up to 900RPM with a separation factor of 420G. Under the centrifugal force, the liquid phase and small particles (centrifugal fluid) pass through the material layer, pass through the screen basket, and flow along the upper cover into the liquid collection trough at the upper part of the machine base, then is discharged out of the machine through the liquid discharge pipe located on both sides of the machine base; the solid part of the drill cuttings remains inside the screen basket. Because there is a speed difference between the rotor scraper and the screen basket, the rotor scraper scrapes the drill cuttings off the screen basket and pushes them to the bottom of the screen basket, thereby discharging the dehydrated drill cuttings into the receiving funnel below the machine or the bottom screw conveyor. This dehydrating process is carried out continuously and can be used for sustainable work. It can be applied for real-time treatment.

2. Decanter centrifuge GNLW363D-VFD

The decanter centrifuge GNLW363D-VFD can further treat the liquid phase separated by the drill cuttings dryer to reduce the density, so that the oil-based mud can be reused. Pumping Module:

The system utilizes the GN GNZS706 dual-deck shale shaker. The upper deck uses a lower mesh number screen, while the lower deck uses a higher API number screen. Multiple screening processes with a large screening area and extended time result in better separation conditions for the decanter centrifuge. The shale shaker uses GN Solid Control’s own production of shaker screen, which comply with the API RP 13C standard.

Decanter Centrifuge Module:

After the oil sludge is screened by the shale shaker, it is pumped into the GN decanter centrifuge for two-phase separation. The separated solid phase has an oil content of ≤5%, while the liquid phase consists mainly of oil and water. The solid phase can undergo further hazardous waste treatment, while the liquid phase is transported to the disc stack separator by a screw pump. The centrifuge model used in this system is the GNLW553D-VFD.

Chemical Dosing Module:

To enhance the separation efficiency of the horizontal screw centrifuge, chemical dosing is typically used. Demulsifiers are used to break up more oil, while flocculants are used to separate more solid residues. The chemical dosing module includes demulsifiers, surfactants, and flocculants for oil sludge treatment.
