Recently drilling has been changed a lot, the old experience did not work, people has their own new design. “Zero discharge mud systems” are urgently required because of the environment protection. Auger box, screw conveyor can be used to collect the drilling cuttings from shale shaker, desander, desilter, mud cleaner, dewatering unit and centrifuge, then transfer them to a catch pit for later processing. In some development company where the government did not have strict regulation on environment protection, they even do not use any mud system, and let the drilling fluids discharged directly. They may face big problem in the future.

Dewatering unit is required to work together with the system, it can make further process of the fluids after processed by centrifuge after the well is finished.

The mud tank is designed similar to 40 feet standard container, it is more convenient to transport in any countries in the world. All the lifting device, dimension, skid is same with container, and we put GN solids control equipments on top of it.

1 How to install vibrating motor ?

 (1). Before installing vibrator, turn off and lock out/tag out all energy sources to mounting structure according to ANSI standards。

(2). If using a cutting torch or welding, test atmosphere for gas level or dust content.

(3). Make sure mounting surface is strong and flat, 0.25 mm acros vibrator feet. (This will minimize internal stress to vibrator casting when tightening mount bolts.

(4) Make sure mounting surface and vibrator are clean and free of debris, paint, and oxidation.

(5) Before installing vibrator onto mount, apply thread sealing compound to all bolts.

(6) After the vibrator has been operated for 10 to 20 minutes, check bolt torque. Tighten if necessary

2 How to  maintain  vibrating motor?

(1)Clean dust on shell regularly

(2)Before operating, must check the bolts to confirm whether there is loose or not. Otherwise, we must screw bolts tight before running shaker

(3) Inspect the cable, whether there is wear, hold down, crushing, etc.

(4) the vibration motor should be under good lubrication during operation:

Motors before fixed on shaker, the bearing is filled with SKF specific lubricate grease, the temperature range is -40 ~ 200℃

During running, every 2000 working hours user should makeup LGHP2 lubricate grease once. Every bearing can not be filled over 25.8g.

To make sure bearing operated well, we must use LGHP2 grade high temperature lubrication grease. Before adding new lubrication grease we should clean the input hole.

1 shaker deck adjustment

A spring-loaded plunger and reversible pawl provide a ratcheting action during movement of the operating handle. A full 180 degrees of movement is possible in both directions. Depending on pawl setting, moving the handle in one direction turns the jack screw to raise or lower the screen frame, while in the other direction the jack screw remains stationary during handle movement. The spring-loaded pawl permits the operator to switch the direction to either raise or lower the screen frame, as required.The angle of the discharge end of the screen frame is infinitely adjustable within the equipment’s available range.

2 shale shaker maintenance

(1)Inspect discharge duct connection on side of hopper for leaks. Tighten connection and/or add silicone sealant to prevent leakage.

(2)Inspect cover on unused hopper discharge connection for leaks. Tighten connection and/or add silicone sealant to prevent leakage.

(3)Using a water hose, wash off accumulated process material from screen frame, interior of hopper and AWD angle adjustment components.

(4)Excess process material in these areas may impede angle adjustment of screen frame and can reduce screen frame vibration if the frame bottoms out on the buildup.

(5)Check for and remove any accumulation of process material or other obstruction in feeder interior. Feeder blockage may cause excessive splashing and uneven distribution of slurry onto the screen bed.

(6) Inspect entire machine for evidence of coating damage, including exposed base metal, corrosion, deep scratches, or other voids. Repair damaged areas in accordance with coating manufacturers’ specifications.

In some countries government regulation is a impediment of the mud system import. For example, In Brazil all the equipments should include 70% at least of the local share, Foreign country can only share 30%. For example in Argentina, government also have special regulation to make it difficult to import mud tank from China, some clients choose to make the tank locally and import equipments only. Drilling mud is used to control subsurface pressures, lubricate the drill bit, stabilize the well bore, and carry the cuttings to the surface, among other functions. Mud is pumped from the surface through the hollow drill string, exits through nozzles in the drill bit, and returns to the surface through the annular space between the drill string and the walls of the hole.

Drilling mud separation system

As the drill bit grinds rocks into drill cuttings, these cuttings become entrained in the mud flow and are carried to the surface. In order to return the mud to the recirculating mud system and to make the solids easier to handle, the solids must be separated from the mud. The first step in separating the cuttings from the mud involves circulating the mixture of mud and cuttings over shale shakers.

The liquid mud passes through the screens and is recirculated back to the mud tanks from which mud is withdrawn for pumping downhole.

Additional mechanical processing is often used in the mud pit system to further remove as many fine solids as possible because these particles tend to interfere with drilling performance. This mechanical equipment usually belongs to one of three types: 1) desilters and desanders, 2) mud cleaners 3) rotary bowl decanting centrifuges. The separated fine solids are combined with the larger drill cuttings removed by the shale shakers.

 Function of flow divider for LMSS

• Ensures even distribution of liquid and solids to downstream shakers
• Eliminates need for back tanks and shaker bypasses
• Minimizes the effect of pitch and heave

Solids removal efficiencies are dramatically increased by the Flow divider, which distributes fluids/solids equally to multiple downstream shale shakers. Positive sealing weir gates are removable, allowing flow per selected shaker or installed omitting flow. The Flow divider eliminates the need for back tanks and shaker bypasses and minimizes the effect of pitch and heave. The unit is available in four sizes: 2,3, 4, 5, and 6 way.

How do Derrick Flow divider Work?

Mud from the flow line enters the rear of the Flow divider (1) where it contacts a baffle (2) allowing the flow to pass under and sometimes over before it flows over the weirs (3), and divides the liquid and solids equally between the desired number of shaker feed ports (4). Positive-sealing weir gates permit flow to the downstream shakers .
