Centrifugal separation is one main and effective separation way, while the mixtures can distinguish by gravity, which means with the same volume, the weight is different. In solids control system<\/a>, there are two way to separate the drill cuttings from the drilling mud, screening and centrifugation.\"centrifugal
\nAs we all know the screening machine is the shale shaker<\/a>, and they separate the drilling cuttings by volume, the bigger one left and the smaller be stored to next phase.<\/p>\n

There are kinds of centrifugal equipments in mud system<\/a>: Centrifugal pumps, hydrocycolone separator<\/a> (desander and desilter), and decanter centrifuge<\/a>.
\nThe centrifugal pump is used to pump the drilling mud, and make the hydrocyclones work. While the other ones is the separation equipments.<\/p>\n

Centrifugal Pump<\/h3>\n

Hydrocyclone separator<\/a> is always referring as desander and desitler<\/a>, used after shale shaker in the solids control system. Usually the cone diameter is more than 6\u2033is called Desander, and used as the second-control equipment in drilling operation. the cone diameter is less than 6\u2033is called Desilter, and used as the third-control equipment in drilling operation. We commonly used 5 \u201cand 4\u2033 cone to separate solid-phase particle size 15-47\u03bcm in the drilling fluid.<\/p>\n

Decanter Centrifuge<\/h3>\n

Decanter centrifuge<\/strong><\/a> are used to process unweighted and weighted, water-based and oil-based drilling fluids (muds). Mechanical energy is utilized to increase the gravitational force exerted on solids that are present in the mud system.<\/p>\n
